Unstoppable Latics To Dispatch Of Addicks

Wigan take on Charlton in a Championship relegation clash at 12:30pm on Saturday.

A win for the Latics could mean their league status is secured despite a potential 12 points deduction due to being placed in administration. Charlton sit in 21st on 47 points, just one place and two points from the drop zone.

Wigan got the better of Charlton in the seasons earlier fixture, a 2-0 win for the Latics featured a brace from Chey Dunkley.

The Latics have been in fine form. They’ve only lost one game since the restart, a 3-0 defeat to a brilliant Brentford side, and come off the back of an 8-0 thrashing of Hull.

Charlton started well after the restart but have faded in recent games. Two wins in their first two games since returning have failed to translate into long term form, in fact they haven’t managed to win a game since then and come into this match off the back of a 1-1 draw with Birmingham.

Wigan’s Danny Fox will be serving the second game of a three-match suspension and so will not be available. Leon Balogun returned from injury in the 8-0 drubbing of Hull so he could feature in this fixture.

Paul Cook’s Wigan are on fire at the moment. Unfortunately, I can’t see another 8-0 on the cards like the game at Hull but I feel like the Latics are an unstoppable force and the moment, and with their future, in their own hands, they will be hungrier than ever to secure their Championship status.

Charlton started the restart promisingly, but poor form since then means they are fighting to stay in the division. Their recent results haven’t looked inspiring and when you consider Wigan’s run of form it doesn’t look promising for the Addicks.
