Tykes Time In The Championship To Come To An End

Two sides meet at Oakwell on Sunday having endured contrasting seasons so far as rock bottom Barnsley welcome play-off contenders Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

When and Where?

The game will take place at Oakwell on Sunday 19th July with kick-off at 3pm.

Previous Meetings

These two sides have met 81 times prior to this game with Forest winning 31, Barnsley winning 30 and the remaining 22 ending in draws.

When the two sides met at the City ground earlier in the campaign it was the hosts that day that ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a goal from Ben Watson in the 56th minute.

The last time the two sides met at Sunday's venue it was the Yorkshire side who ran out 2-1 winners back in August 2017.

Team News

Sabri Lamouchi still has concerns over the fitness of Matty Cash, while Joe Lolley only came off the bench in the second half on Wednesday night having been suffering from shin splints and doubts remain about Samba Sow's ongoing knee problem.

Barnsley, meanwhile, look set to be without Portuguese forward Elliot Simoes.

Prediction

Nottingham Forest need one point to secure their place in the Championship play-offs while Barnsley know anything less than a win will condemn them back to Sky Bet League One.

Both of these sides have been out of form and whilst Barnsley know they need to win, the visitors will be looking for a win to take them into the playoffs with confidence.

The Tykes are fully aware that they have a tough job to avoid the drop and sadly I think their time in the Championship will come to an end with a narrow defeat.
