Tigers To Drop To League One With Defeat To Bluebirds

Cardiff need just one point to guarantee a place in the play offs as they host Hull in the final round of Championship matches on Wednesday evening.

Neil Harris’ side are three points clear of seventh placed Swansea which means a draw against The Tigers will be enough to keep the hope of Premier League football next season alive.

The Bluebirds have been one of the inform teams since the restart with five wins from eight including a 2-0 victory over now champions Leeds on the 21st June.

Hull, on the other hand, need a miracle if they want to stay in the Championship next season with relegation to League One looking almost certain.

Here is what is required if Hull want to avoid the drop:

  • Victory over Cardiff.

  • Blackburn need a victory over Luton.

  • Fulham need to avoid defeat at Wigan.

  • Barnsley must drop points at Brentford.

It is certainly a tall order if Hull City want to pull off what would go down as one of the relegation escapes of the century especially when you look at their recent form.

With five defeats in a row and just two wins in the league during 2020, it has been a devastatingly poor second half of the season for Grant McCann’s side who were once in and around the play-offs themselves.

One of those five defeats include the 8-0 thrashing carried out by Wigan where the Tigers were seven down by half-time.

Prediction

Cardiff are certainly the favourites going into the last round of matches and have taken at least a point in over 80% of their home league matches this season. The romantic idea of Hull managing to escape the gallows is surely just a pipe dream and a Bluebirds win seems the only realistic outcome here.

Score Prediction: Cardiff 3-1 Hull
