Millwall Play-Off Hopes To Slip Away With Swansea Defeat

With fixtures coming thick and fast there’s another midweek game at the New Den as Millwall host playoff contenders Swansea.

The Swans lost their last meeting with the Lions 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

Millwall are 12th in the Championship on 55 points and Swansea 10th on 56 points laying four points behind their welsh rivals Cardiff in the last playoff place.

This will be only the 8th meeting since the turn of the Millennium with three wins apiece and one draw.

Millwall need to turn draws into wins as they have lost fewer games than 3rd place Brentford but drawn 16 games, they haven’t won since the restart with a home defeat and away draw to struggling Barnsley.

The Swans had restarted with a convincing win at Middlesborough but despite having 62% possession whilst they lost their previous fixture 1-0 against relegation-threatened Luton at the Liberty Stadium.

Millwall manager Gary Rowett has all but declared Tuesday as a must-win for his team, saying it’s now a nine-game season and they cannot afford not to get momentum if they want to achieve their playoff goals.

Both teams have struggled with the restart and have all to play for chasing the playoffs but I’m heading towards a 2-0 away win for the Swans.
