Blues To Rain On Champions Title Celebrations

The Premier League champions Liverpool take on Chelsea at 8:15pm on Wednesday in a game which could have massive implications for the blues European qualification hopes.

Chelsea sit in 3rd on 63 points, just one point ahead of Leicester and Manchester United who sit in 4th and 5th respectively.

Liverpool got the better of the blues when the sides met in their first Premier League meeting of the season as they won 2-1, however Chelsea got their revenge in the FA Cup, winning by a 2-0 score line.

Liverpool have fallen off in terms of form since their title win was confirmed. A 1-1 draw with Burnley and a 2-1 loss to Arsenal in their last two games have lead many to speculate that the reds have ran out of motivation with the league already secured.

Chelsea come into this game off the back of a 3-1 win over Man United in the FA Cup semi final, but Frank Lampard’s side have lost some momentum since the restart. A 3-0 loss to Sheffield United is the most noticeable example of stagnated form for the blues.

For Chelsea, Ngolo Kante remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Christian Pulisic could return in this game after being left out the FA Cup semi final with a slight knock.

Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip are out until the end of the season for Liverpool, but the Reds could see the return of James Milner after his prolonged absence through injury.

Liverpool come into this game as Premier League champions but their form as of late has been poor. Chelsea will be riding high after a 3-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup semi final. The blues are the team with more to lose in this fixture as their hopes of European football will be damaged if they cannot secure a win with Leicester and Manchester United hot on their tails.

Considering the title is already won for Liverpool I don’t see the same motivated and aggressive team that won the league showing up and beating a Chelsea side which needs a victory.

Score Prediction: Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea
