Bees To Beat Latics

Brentford will be hoping to sustain their promotion push when they host Wigan Athletic, who have had their fair share of issues off the pitch this past week.

The Lancashire outfit became the first English professional club to put themselves into administration since the coronavirus pandemic, whilst being set to be deducted 12 points at the end of the season if they finish outside the drop-zone.

Despite the infrastructural instability, 'The Latics' find themselves on-song when it comes to their results on the pitch, with a nine-game unbeaten streak helping them sit in 14th place with an eight-point gap from the bottom three.

A run that could be brought to a halt by automatic-promotion chasing Brentford, who have conquered the likes of Leeds United, Fulham and Reading since Championship football returned in June.

'The Bees' are expected to continue with the same starting line-up barring any late fitness issues, with Bryan Mbeumo keeping his place in the starting line-up following his goal at the Madejski Stadium midweek.

Whilst Paul Cook will likely feature Kai Naismith in the starting eleven in-place of Michael Jacobs, after Wigan's very own 'flying Scotsman' bagged a brace in their last outing.

Wigan Athletic will be a tough nut to crack, but their last win against Saturday's opponents was back in 2017. No one knows whether or not the clubs off-the-pitch issues will transfer on to the field of play, but they face a Brentford side who have one of the best home records in the division. I expect Thomas Frank’s men to just-about edge a victory on the day, but with both sides being two of only four clubs in England to be unbeaten since the re-start, I wouldn’t be surprised if the spoils were shared at Griffin Park.

Prediction – Brentford 2-1 Wigan
